SPRINGFIELD — A former Boston resident who lived in a high-end apartment, drove a $120,000 Mercedes Benz and collected gold bars was sentenced to three months in federal prison Thursday for marijuana distribution and tax evasion.
Despite the spoils agents recovered from his home in 2017, Zachary Sweener received a taxpayer-funded attorney, according to the court docket.
Sweener, 36, told investigators he had earned $1 million peddling the drug with suppliers in Colorado and California, a sentencing memo says. Agents recovered 1,000 vape pens, gold bars, Rolex watches, $90,000 in cash and other “luxury items” from his “luxury apartment” in 2017.
